Healthcare 102:

Well it looks like the Democrats have gotten dazed and confused again. What happened to the majority in the House and Senate? Why did a Republican get voted into Ted Kennedy’s seat? I’ll tell you what I think, we Americans are so stuck on what this country was built on, but not looking around enough to see all the people that are suffering and dying everyday because of lack of healthcare. Do the Politicians, Insurance companies, Special Interest groups, and Pharmaceutical companies care? I think not. Reason why is because they will lose out on the money that’s in it for them, and are afraid of losing the cushy jobs that they have. Many Special Interest groups are bankrolled by the companies and Politicians own stock in most of the companies which are bankrolled by them and the Special Interest groups. It’s hard for real Healthcare Reform to happen when so many Politicians owe their wealth to these groups.

So in a nutshell, as a Capitalist country, we are run by big business, lobbyist and special interest groups (people with money.) I believe these people are mainly Republicans who feel the little person deserves what they already have, which in some cases is too much of nothing; Republicans say that if they had only pulled themselves up by their bootstraps (even if they don’t have any) they would have more. Republicans criticize the proposed healthcare legislation citing it is government ran but fail to acknowledge that programs like Medicare (which their parents probably benefit from) are also government run. The Republicans don’t want any kind of healthcare reform and they know it. They definitely don’t want to be bipartisan (for them it’s a conflict of interest.) Now the Democrats do have a problem and that is being a unified party. What happened to doing what is good for the people and our country? So many Politicians are not Public Servants anymore. They are more concerned about their political gain and we as Americans just don’t seem to get it!
